Joël Boudreau
sculpte depuis l’âge de 12 ans. Originaire de Dunlop, NB il débute sa carrière en sculptant le bois. Par la suite, il complète un Baccalauréat en arts visuels à l’Université de Moncton et poursuit des études en dessin par ordinateur au Cégep de Ste-Foy. Son cheminement artistique le mène à Paris en 1997, où il approfondit sa recherche en conception d’images par ordinateur dans une compagnie de design. En 2000, il se rend en Afrique où il explore les rudiments des techniques anciennes du coulage de bronze. Il apprend également à forger et suit des cours en joaillerie, sculpture et patines. Parallèlement, il réalise des illustrations pour des livres pour enfants.Récipiendaire de plusieurs bourses du Conseil des arts du Nouveau-Brunswick et du Conseil des arts du Canada, il crée de nombreuses œuvres sculpturales et installatives en utilisant le bois, le métal, la pierre et autres matériaux et objets recyclés. Ses œuvres font parties de la Banque d'œuvres d'art du Nouveau-Brunswick et de La Galerie d’art Louise et Reuben-Cohen. Il expose au Nouveau-Brunswick ainsi qu’au Québec et en France. En 2010, il reçoit le Prix Éloize, artiste de l'année en arts visuels au Nouveau-Brunswick.
Son univers artistique témoigne d’une quête spirituelle centré autour de préoccupations et de questions existentielles touchant la place de l'humain dans notre société. En 2013, Joël Boudreau a créé une œuvre monumentale sur la relation médecin, patient et environnement pour l’Université de Moncton. Toujours à la recherche d'approfondit sa démarche artistique, Joël est allé à des ateliers de création au Arts Center de Banff (Alberta) en 2013.

Joel Boudreau
has been sculpting since he was 12 years
old. Originally from Dunlop (New Brunswick), he began his career by carving
wood. After, he completed a Bachelor in Fine Arts at University of Moncton and
pursued computer design at Cégep Ste-Foy (Quebec). His artistic journey leads
him to Paris in 1997, where he deepens his computer illustration skills in a
design company. In 2000, he traveled to Africa, where he explores the basics of
bronze casting’s ancient techniques. He also took classes to learn the basics
of Blacksmith, jewelry, sculpture and patinas. Simultaneously, he made
illustrations for children's books.
Winner of several grants from the Arts Council of New
Brunswick and the Arts Council of Canada, he created numerous sculptural and
installatives works using wood, metal, stone and other recycled materials and
articles. His works are part of the New Brunswick Art Bank and
Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen Art Gallery. He exhibited in New Brunswick, Quebec and
France. In 2010-2011, he received the Éloize Award’s Artist of the Year in
Visual Arts (New Brunswick).
His artistic universe reflects a spiritual quest
centered around concerns and existential issues about human’s place in society.
In 2013, Joel Boudreau has created a monumental work, for University of
Moncton, about the relationship between doctors, patients and environment.
Always searching to deepen his artistic approach, Joel went to an art’s
creation workshop in Banff’s Arts Center (Alberta) in 2013. So far, he
continues to explore his creativity and innovate through an exploration of new
materials and subjects which can be converted into a work of art.
